Revlon Va Va Violet Lipstick: Review and Swatches

Left to Right: Mac Russian Red, Revlon Blackberry, Revlon Va Va Violet

Revlon Va Va Violet Lipstick is a dark, well-pigmented but slightly sheer, semi-glossy purple lipstick. It looks blueish purple in the tube but also has warm, brown tones to it, so I would say it's neutral-toned, possible leaning cool. It's very easy to build up: it looks like a muted purple-red when worn lightly, and gets glossier and darker, and more complex in colour, when built up. There is no obvious scent or taste, and it's comfortable to wear; not very noticeable in feel.

This is an ultra-flattering dark lipstick for pale girls. I'm fair with cool undertones (NW10/Nars Siberia in foundation colour) and although this lipstick is so dark, it looks almost natural because of the translucent finish. If you have cool undertones I highly recommend this as a vampy, dark lipstick. It looks good but a bit more 'artificial' on warm-toned skin; the tones clash.
